What Is Remote Coaching?

Hard at working making sure your fitness always finds it's way to you!

Online coaching, remote programming, customized programming, virtual coaching, individualized programming…essentially, they are all the same thing and chances are, you’ve heard some combination of these words. When we hear this, we get the concept, but we might not know the ins and outs of it. Lucky for you, we’re here to answer the question; what is remote coaching?

Here at Train & Able, we define remote coaching as receiving a customized fitness plan based on your exercise history, current workout routine, equipment available to you, space considerations, past injuries, schedule, and of course, your goals! Remote coaching isn’t hitting the gym solo with a generic template from your “coach” saying “Here ya’ go! Good luck!”. The reason we don’t believe in this approach is simple; you are different

You bring a unique set of experiences and goals that make you different therefore your program should be different too! We also know, there are plenty of places on the internet where you can find a “coach” to give you these generic one size fits allworkouts, but where the true value truly lies in remote coaching is in the name itself, coaching! We’re about to get into the true value of remote coaching but if you’re wanting to learn more about why it’s important to have a coach, read Why You Need A Coach (And How To Pick One)

There’s two parts to business in our eyes; the product and the experience. In our book, both need to be superb. You wouldn’t go to a fine dining restaurant and expect rude and sluggish service with a BigMac as the main entree, would you? And you shouldn’t expect anything less when it comes to a coach and their service.

At Train & Able, we’re confident in our product. The custom-tailored program you receive will undoubtedly help you become fit, happy, and confident. It's the experience that truly sets us apart.

A coach doesn’t send you a program and let you have at it with no explanation. The why of something informs how to approach it. Your coach will take the time to explain the larger thought process behind why certain exercises were selected, why they’re ordered in such a way, and how often you’re doing them to yield the best results in the shortest amount of time. A good program is hard to come by. Good guidance is exceedingly more rare. That’s why Train and Able is here, to provide invaluable guidance and support that fits your specific needs.

Sometimes life gets in the way. Work gets busy: family, vacation, injuries, a global pandemic hits, you know, the usual! Sometimes that means working out takes a back seat when it shouldn’t. Exercise is a celebration of your body’s ability, not a punishment for what you eat. That celebration should be made a priority and your coach will keep that at the forefront of your mind, ready to jump in when emergencies hit, tailor workouts to your ever-changing schedule and location, and provide you with the comfort of solace amongst a chaotic world trying to keep you from your fitness goals!

Now that we’ve covered all the value built into our remote coaching, let’s dig into how it even works.

If you visit our website, you will see you can get started with remote coaching in three easy steps.

Step one: you talk to a coach! You get to ask all your questions and we get to know you better! We want to know where you are now, where you want to be, and how can we best get you there. Then we can move on to step two!

Step two is simple. All you have to do is download an app! This is where you’ll get all of your workouts, videos and explanations of the movements, your past performance history, a place to upload your results and videos, and talk with your coach, arguably the most important function of the app! Then we’re on to step three!

Step three is complete your workouts using the app! When you log your results and upload videos of yourself, your coach can better tailor your future workouts to adequately challenge you. Not only does your coach now have a better idea of how you’re performing through results and videos, your coach then responds via video to outline all the hard work you’ve been putting in, give you a virtual high five, and physically show you any technique changes to get the most out of your workouts!

If you’re having a hard time envisioning this or want to see the app in action, you can watch this video!

So whether it’s referred to as online coaching, individualized programming, virtual coaching, or any combination of those words, know exactly what you’re getting with Train & Able. Our remote coaching means after we learn more about you and your fitness goals (step one) you’ll receive a personally tailored fitness program via an app (step two), and finally start making progress toward your fitness goals (step three)!

If your gym is shut down again (or never reopened after the pandemic!) or you want to experience what true socially distanced personal training looks like, send us an email to finish step one (kyle@trainandable.net!
